Weeds is an American comedy-drama television series created by Jenji Kohan in 2005, and produced by Lionsgate Television for the Showtime cable television network. The show revolves around Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), a newly widowed suburbanite mother of two, who has turned to selling marijuana to support her family after her husband unexpectedly dies. The Walking Dead - A Zombie Story with Heart

Are you team vampire or team zombie? It's easy to see why vampires have a pop-culture edge. They clean up better for photo shoots. They embody sex — all that sharing of fluids — not decay. They are refined, orderly, even courtly. Zombies tend to be poor conversationalists.

But when it comes to bringing actual horror, it's no contest. A vampire will nibble your neck, but zombies will take down your entire civilization. (Ever pragmatic, bloodsuckers prefer to keep their food supply sustainable.) The zombie apocalypse is the premise and setting of AMC's new series The Walking Dead (Sundays, 10 p.m. E.T.; premieres Halloween night). And judging by the first two episodes of its six-episode debut season, the scariest part of the series is not what the animated corpses do but what the surviving humans are driven to do.

Adapted from graphic novels by Robert Kirkman, with author-sanctioned liberties, and produced by Frank Darabont (director of The Shawshank Redemption), Walking Dead centers on Southern sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who has the good fortune to be shot nearly fatally before a viral outbreak that turns most of humanity into ambulatory meat.

Rick awakens from a coma (à la 28 Days Later) in an abandoned hospital. He staggers out into the depopulated world, searching for the wife and son he hopes are still alive, and learns about the outbreak bit by bit. Survivors are rumored to have massed under military protection in Atlanta. The virus, transmitted by zombie bites and scratches, kills you and then wakes you up; the flesh-eating revenants can't speak and are physically and mentally slow, though they retain vague memories of their lives. (They can be killed only by shots to the head, because you don't mess with tradition.)

The 90-minute pilot, directed by dara-bont, paints a thoroughly convincing postapocalyptic world, both visually and emotionally. Yes, it delivers astonishing scenes of devastation, but its more affecting — and more horrifying — concerns are human.

How do you hold on to your morals, your laws, your faith, when no one is around to compel you to? Does the calamity drive the few remaining humans to band together or revert to barbarism? And how does it feel when the "walkers" on your street — whom you must put down or be killed yourself — are your friends and family? A subplot in the pilot, in which Rick befriends a widower and son holed up in their house alone, recalls Cormac McCarthy's apocalyptic novel The Road.

The more intriguing aspect of the series is the survivors and whether they can maintain a society worth surviving in. Which makes zombies an ideal metaphor, as Godzilla was in the nuclear age, for our nightmares du jour: pandemics; decentralized terrorism; the collapse of social, financial and ecological systems. Zombies are viruses, really — leaderless networks, organized on no other principle than destruction, multiplying exponentially until they burn themselves out, taking us with them. If The Walking Dead can build on its promise and run with these ideas, along with unflinching gross-out thrills, it can tell a doomsday story with all the things zombies crave: brains, guts and heart.

ABC Family will ring in the New Year with returning original hit series “Pretty Little Liars” premiering on Monday, January 3, 2011, at 8:00PM and 9:00PM.

The mystery and ominous messages continue for best friends Emily Fields, Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin and Aria Montgomery in the mid-season return of ABC Family’s hit series “Pretty Little Liars.”

No longer just threatening to reveal secrets, the all-knowing “A” has stepped up the game and nothing is off limits in the second half of the first season. And while they work hard to protect what they know, the four girls are also on the hunt to learn the truth about what happened to Alison the night she disappeared. But when those truths start to come out, will the Liars be prepared for what they must face when new secrets are revealed?

Pretty Little Liars is all about four estranged best friends who are reunited one year after their best friend and queen bee of the group. The cast named Alison, goes missing only to discover they are receiving messages from an anonymous "A" who knows all their secrets. The drama stars Lucy Hale ("Privileged") as Aria, Troian Bellisario ("Navy NCIS") as Spencer, Ashley Benson ("Eastwick") as Hanna and Shay Mitchell as Emily.

It doesn’t matter where I am, who I’m with, or what I’m doing, if I see “The Hangover” is on pay cable, basic cable, or a poster ad in the subway, I’m watching it all the way through to the end. I’ve been a fan of Todd Phillips ever since 2000′s “Road Trip” and it’s been a bucket list item of mine to have one unforgettable cameo in one of his movies. The entire main cast is confirmed to return and rumor is Zach Efron makes an appearance. Well, if Vanessa Hudgens can be in a Zack Snyder film, I don’t see why Zef can’t get absolutely abused in Hangover 2. I mean, he needs to be kicked, punched, vomited on, dragged through garbage, and pushed to the absolute limit of human suffering for the audience to get on board with him being in the film. Then, he saves the day (by sacrificing his life).

The forthcoming sequel to The Hangover will take place in Thailand, with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and director Todd Phillips all relocating to the Far East this fall for “even more outrageous trouble.” Good move. We hear you can get into all sorts of outrageous trouble there.

The film reunites Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha and puts them on a trip to Thailand. Given that the first "Hangover" had them putting the mental pieces back together after a blackout drunk in Las Vegas, I can only imagine what they will get up to in Thailand. Word is that Ken Jeong and Mike Tyson will also be returning, so the gang is really getting back together for another go-around.

Jamie Chung has had some buzz lately as part of the ensemble cast of female stars in Zack Snyder's mega-fantasy "Sucker Punch" where she reportedly engages in some pretty intense hand to hand and weapons combat. I imagine that playing Ed Helms new fiancee in the "The Hangover part II" will be a slightly less physical role, but considering the unpredictable character of the project, we may be completely mistaken

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

This one almost didn’t happen — after The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian had a disappointing box office run in the U.S., Disney dropped the franchise altogether. Luckily, Fox picked it up and moved the release date from early summer back to Christmas. The twelve-year-olds inside of us loved the first two Narnia movies, and the gaping hole left by The Lord of the Rings is still almost too much for us to bear, so we’re looking forward to another big-budget epic fantasy fix.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will be adapted as the third film in Walden Media's The Chronicles of Narnia film series. Michael Apted takes over as director from Andrew Adamson, who opted to produce with Mark Johnson, Perry Moore and Douglas Gresham. Will Poulter joins the cast as Eustace Scrubb, while Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Peter Dinklage, and Liam Neeson are all returning.

The film will have a wide theatrical release in traditional 2D, and a limited theatrical release in Digital 3D in the United States and United Kingdom on December 10, 2010. The two youngest Pevensie children, Lucy and Edmund, are staying with their odious cousin Eustace Scrubb while their older brother Peter is studying for his university entrance exams with Professor Kirke, and their older sister Susan is traveling through America with their parents. Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace are drawn into the Narnian world through a picture of a ship at sea. (The painting, hanging neglected in the guest bedroom that the Pevensie children were using, had been an unwanted present to Eustace's parents.) The three children land in the ocean near the pictured vessel, the titular Dawn Treader, and are taken aboard.

The Dawn Treader is the ship of Caspian X, King of Narnia, who was the key character in the previous book (Prince Caspian). Edmund and Lucy (along with Peter and Susan) helped him gain the throne from his evil uncle Miraz.

Three years have passed since then, peace has been established in Narnia, and Caspian has undertaken his oath to find the seven lost Lords of Narnia. Lucy and Edmund are delighted to be back in Narnia, but Eustace is less enthusiastic, as he has never been there before and had taunted his cousins with his belief that the country never existed. The Talking Mouse Reepicheep is also on board, as he hopes to find Aslan's country beyond the seas of the "utter East".
